Imphal, March 03 2023: A combined team of Imphal East district police commando and Heingang police rescued a man who was abducted by some unknown persons on Thursday evening.

The rescued man has been identified as Md Noor Khan (42) son of Md Abdul Rahim of Khomidok Umang Leikai under Heingang police station, Imphal East.

According to a police source, the combined team led by OC inspector Kh Henry and Heingang PS OC Kh Pathou launched search operation after receiving report from 16 Assam Rifles about abduction of a man from Khurai Salannthong area around 6.30pm on March 2.The team managed to rescue Noor Khan from the paddy field in Eshirou area along the Imphal-Ukhrul road at about 7.40pm of the same day.

The abductors, however, managed to escape but left behind one .32 pistol, Tata Mega (MN06L02728) and one mobile phone.

Md Noor Khan along with the recovered items has been handed over to Heingang PS for necessary measures, the police source said.
