Rally demands justice for Sanajaoba

Imphal, April 20 2025: A torch rally was organised on Sunday evening by Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the custodial death of Khoisnam Sanajaoba, demanding justice and accountability for the incident.

Residents of various localities in Khurai area participated in the rally, raising slogans such as "We condemn the arrest and killing of village volunteers", "We condemn the custodial death of Sanajaoba", "Punish the police personnel involved in the killing of Sanajaoba", and "Deliver justice to Sanajaoba" .

The rally, which commenced from multiple points across the Khurai region, culminated at the Lamlong Traffic Point, where participants converged to voice their collective outrage.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines, JAC co-convenor Yumkhaibam Nungshitombi pointed out that the death of Sanajaoba, who was in judicial custody and passed away at JNIMS Hospital, is a clear case of custodial death.

She asserted that all police personnel involved must be held legally accountable and face appropriate punishment under the law.
