Imphal, November 19 2024:
Churachandpur-based Joint Philanthropic Organisation (JPO) has petitioned home minister Amit Shah to immediately address the high-handedness and inhumane design of the Biren Singh-led government and his 'militias' to annihilate the people.
In the memorandum, JPO pointed out that 18 months after the crisis in Manipur, the people are witnessing multiplying cases of gross human rights violations, burning of five churches and a school in Jiribam district on November 16 night.
Many houses were burnt and vandalised the same night.
Reminding the killing of Zosangkim Hmar by suspected Meetei groups on November 7, it said that on November 11, 10 Hmar village volunteers were massacred by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Jakuradawr, Jiribam district.
Again, on November 17, suspected Meetei militants abducted Haojoel Doungel and Thangjangul Doungel, both from Pangmol village, Tamenglong district.
The lifeless body of Haojoel was recovered from Aglapur village of Jiribam.
However, Thangjangul's whereabouts remains unknown till date, it added.
JPO further demanded that the post mortem report of the Hmar village volunteers be made available and demand for separate administration granted.
