Holiday list for year 2023 declared

General administrative department (record & library section) of the Government of Manipur declared the list of general holidays, restricted holidays and public holidays for the year 2023.A notification in this regard has been issued stating that there will only one day holiday for Yaoshang (Holi) festival in 2023.As per the notification, government employees could take two days leave on the days of restricted holidays in addition to general holidays.
Employees posted in hills and at Manipur Bhavans in Kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati may replace Eid-ul-fitr and Rath Yatra figured in general holiday list with local holidays of importance in case of approval from the government within January 31, 2023.Accordingly, the two holidays could be put into restricted holidays, it said.
As per the notification, the year 2023 will have 25 public holidays and 42 restricted holidays while none of the festivals in the year have two days holiday.
Festivals and events listed in the general holiday list are Imoinu Iratpa, Gaan-Ngai, death anniversary of Maharaj Gambhir Singh, Republic Day, Lui-Ngai-Ni, Yaoshang, Sajibu Nongma Panba (Cheiraoba), Good Friday, Cheiraoba, Eid-ul-Fitr, Khongjom Day, Kang (Rath Yatra), Idul Zuha, Patriots' Day, Independence Day, Mild-un-Nabi, Jananeta Irabot birthday, Gandhi Jayanti, Durga Ashtami, Mera Houchongba, Kut, Diwali, Ningol Chakkouba, Nupi Lal and Christmas.
All these holidays will be of one day only.
Among the 42 in restricted holidays list are New Year's.Day, Uttarayan Sankranti, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose birthday, Saraswati Puja, Shivratri, Zomi Namni, Players' Day, Yaoshang (Doljatra), Sab-e-Barat, Yaoshang 4th day, Bijoygovinda Halankar, Baruni, Kongba Laithong Phatpa, Mahavir Jayanti, Narsing death anniversary, Silhenba, Saab-e-Kadar, May Day, Budha Jayanti Jalakeli, Kanglen, Harisayan, Muharum, Zhulon Houba, Zhulon Loiba, Janma Ashtami, Akheri Chahar Sumba, Radha Ashtami, Heikru Hidongba, Tarpan Houba, Tarpan Loiba, Mera Chaoren Houba, Kuki Rising Day, Kwak Jatra, Mera Wayungba, Chaga Ngee, Gobardhan Puja, Gota Ashtami, Mera Waphukpa, Guru Nanak birthday, Christmas eve, post-Christmas and New Year's eve.
Among 21 days figured in public holiday list are Imoinu Iratpa, Gaan-Ngai, Republic Day, Lui-Ngai-Ni, Yaoshang 4th day, Sajibu Nongma Panba, bank account-closing day, Good Friday, Cheiraoba, Eid-ul-Fitr, Kang, Idul Zuha, Patriots' Day, Independence Day, Milad-un-Nabi, Gandhi Jayanti, Durga Ashtami, Kut, Diwali, Ningol Chakkouba and Christmas.
