Sit-ins protest bomb threat to WRD chief engineer

Imphal, October 11 2024: Denouncing the bomb threat to Water Resources Department chief engineer Remmei Alimmei of Chingmeirong Rongmei Kailuang, on Thursday, sit-in protests were organised at multiple locations, on Friday.

The women s society of Chingmeirong Rongmei Kailuang, Laipham Khunou along with locals staged the protest at local community hall on Friday, condemn ing the act and expressing concerns over insecurity in the area.

Speaking at the sit-in, Chingmeirong Rongmei Kabui Village Women Society secretary Lansinlu Daimei, denounced the act of lob bing bomb at the residence of the chief engineer which is elose to a school.

She pointed out that any act threatening public safety should not be repeated in the locality.

Lansinlu also suggested grievances or dispute, if any, should be resolved through proper dialogue rather than resorting to violence.

The protestors held placards inscribed with slogans such as "We Stand Together Against Bomb Culture", "Stop Instilling Fear on Innocent Public", "Our Manipur Deserves Justice and Safety for All", "We Condemn Bomb attack in Residential Areas", and "Stop Threatening Innocent Public".

Simultaneously, Namthanlong Kabui Women's Organisation and Namthanlong Youth's Club organised sit-in protest at Namthanlong community hall against the bomb threat to chief engineer Remmei Alimmei.

Speaking on the sidelines of the sit-in, Namthanlong Kabui Women's Organisation president Ashimlu Remmei, strongly condemned the bomb threat and called upon authorities concerned to identify and round up those involved in the act.
