Move to relocate SBI Branch protested

Kakching, July 08 2024: Kakching Khunou Bazar Vendors' Association along with locals of held a public meeting at the Bazar on Monday and staged a protest against the attempted relocation of a branch of State Bank of India (SBI) from Kakching Khunou.

In accordance with the wishes of the people of Kakching Khunou Municipal Council area, Sugnu MLA K Ranjit wrote to regional manager of the SBI and the chief secretary of Manipur in 2021 to set up a branch at Kakching Khunou.

As such, the request for opening an SBI Kakching Khunou branch was approved.

However, some unscrupulous people have been trying to shift the SBI Branch to an area far away from Kakching Khunou.

Thus, Kakching Khunou Bazar Vendors' Association and the people on Monday adopted a unanimous resolution against the relocation of the branch to another location.

Later, the gathering shouted slogans against the relocation of the branch and for the same to be opened at Kakching Khunou Bazar only.
