LKWF resumes Imphal-Ukhrul road block stir

Imphal, September 05 2024: Denouncing failure to translate into action assurance given by Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha for deployment of state forces in Yaingangpokpi, Uyokching and Thamnapokpi Uyokching areas, Lamlai Kendra Village Volunteer Force (LKWF) has resumed road blockade protest along the Imphal-Ukhrul route from Thursday.

It may be mentioned that protest was organised by LKWF demanding deployment of state forces in the aforementioned areas but suspended after assurance given by MLA Ibomcha for fulfilling the same.

Speaking in this regard, LKWF commander in-chief Yumkhaibam Bosan reminded that the volunteer along with meira paibis have been demanding deployment of state security forces at Yaingangpokpi, Uyokching and Thamnapokpi Uyokching villages to save Meetei from the attacks of Kuki militants.

A road block protest along Imphal-Ukhrul road was launched on August 7 but suspended after local MLA assured of fulfilling their demand.

He cautioned of intensifying the protest if local MLA and authorities concerned fail to honour their demand while declaring that even emergency services will not be exempted From purview of the agitation.
