Ukhrul, May 21 2024: In a landmark feat, Ukhrul Higher Secondary School (UHSS), the district's long government-run higher secondary school, has achieved an impressive 61.97 per cent pass percentage in the recently declared Higher Secondary Examination (HSE) 2024 results.

To celebrate this remarkable achievement, the school organised a felicitation ceremony on Tuesday, to recognise and honour the outstanding performances of its top scorers.

The felicitation function was held at the hall of the school at Winotang, where parents, guardians, and the entire school community gathered to celebrate the achievement.

Attending the felicitation ceremony as a distinguished guest, Ukhrul DC Zuringla Kengoo extended her congratulations to all the top scorers and successful students of UHSS.

Recognising their academic achievements, she emphasised that their journey of success is far from over.

"Your story of success doesn't end here, you have much more to achieve in life", she said, urging the students to never stop striving for greater heights.

Kengoo implored parents and guardians to encourage their children with unconditional love and support, creating a nurturing environment for continued growth.

Highlighting the crucial role of discipline, Kengoo stated, "Without discipline, you cannot go far in life." She stressed the importance of following a routine and adhering to a system, principles that lay the foundation for achieving ambitious goals in life.

Recognising the struggles students encounter in their academic life, Kengoo offered words of encouragement, reminding them that struggles are a natural part of life.

Another distinguished guest, Ukhrul ZEO Thaimei Badan offered his congratulations to all the successful students and the UHSS community on achieving the unprecedented academic success in the HSE exam.

Top scorers in various subjects were recognised and applauded for their outstanding achievements.

Notably, five students from the school distinguished themselves as top scorers in the recent examinations.

Pre-eminent among them, Ningpen Huileng, the highest achiever in Ukhrul district, attained an extraordinary 92 per cent in the science stream.

His exemplary performance earned him star marks in English, Tangkhul, Physics, Mathematics and commendable letter marks in Computer Science (CSc) .

With his outstanding performance, gamering among the top performers in the state, Ningpen Huileng is now eligible for Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) under Inspire programme.

Following him, Mansak Shimrah also excelled in the science stream, securing an impressive 83.8 per cent.

She demonstrated her proficiency with star marks in English and Tangkhul, while earning letter marks in Physics and Chemistry.

Mishak Huileng, with an impressive score of 80.2 per cent in science, displayed his strength in Tangkhul, Physics, Computer Science, and Mathematics, achieving letter marks in each subject.

Sobi Makung's 80 per cent in the science stream was complemented by star marks in Tangkhul and letter marks in English and Geography.

In the arts stream, Tonoubi Saka emerged as the top performer with a score of 79.4 per cent, including star marks in English and letter marks in Alternative English and Political Science.

Each of them was presented with an award, acknowledging their dedication, perseverance, and exceptional academic skills.

The school's principal AS Josiah commended the students' unwavering commitment to excellence and encouraged them to continue striving for greatness in their future endeavours.

The Principal, in a triumphant address, declared that the school's remarkable achievement in the recent HSE exam is a testimony to the institution's unwavering commitment to its motto; 'Knowledge is life'.

"This success doesn't just happen on its own but is a collective effort of both students and their dedicated teachers".

"We have set a new benchmark, a new record," he proclaimed, confident that this achievement will inspire further success in the years to come.

"Our students will continue to break these records, year after year".

Stating that UHSS, the only government higher secondary school in the district, is committed to securing a bright future for its students, Josiah appealed for public support to empower government institutions and drive them forward.

This year, a total of 234 students appeared in the HSE exam, including 171 students in Arts stream, 54 in Science and 9 in commerce, out of which 145 cleared the exam, securing 61.97 pass percentage.

Altogether 19 students scored star marks in English, Tangkhul, Physics and Mathematics while 38 students scored letters in English, Alternative English, Tangkhul, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Geography arid Political Science.
