Imphal, July 08 2024: Locals of Kongba Uchekon Khunou along with Social Youth United Club and Nupi Chaokhat Khongthang Lup staged a sit-in-protest at Nongpok Panthoibi Khubam in the locality on Monday, condemning the gun attack and placement of a bomb at the residence of Rural Engineering Department executive engineer Moirangthem Rupachandra on Sunday by unknown miscreants.

Prior to the sit-in, a public meeting was held wherein a resolution was adopted to bar entry of outsiders into the locality from 6pm till 6am effective from Monday.

Later, the protestors held placards inscribed with the slogans, "We condemn bomb threat in residential areas", "Stop gun culture", and "Stop firing guns in crowded areas" .

Speaking on the sidelines, one of the protestors condemned occurrence of such unwanted incidents amid the state facing unrest situation.

The protester continued that any misunderstandings can be resolved through talks instead of using violent means, which have the left the women and children in the area terrified.
