Imphal, October 05 2024:
Citing prevailing unrest situation in the state, Akhil Bhartiya Hind Kranti Party has appealed to Civil Aviation and Tourism Union Minister K Rammohan Naidu for a concessional airfare for all travellers/passengers from Manipur to other parts of the country.
In a letter to the Union Minister, Akhil Bhartiya Hind Kranti Party, Manipur state unit president Dr M Dhanabir Singh and national president Kamlesh Tripathi highlighted that since May 3, 2023 the Meetei community has completely stopped travelling outside Manipur on the NH-37 (Imphal-Jribam, Silchar), NH-29 (Imphal-Dimapur- Guwahati) and other national highways connecting other states as these highways pass through Kuki-Zo tribe dominated hilly areas.
Pointing out that due to risk factors, all travellers/passengers mostly students, patients for medical treatments and everyone belonging to the Meetei community has to travel by air only, they expressed concern as the situation has become an additional financial burden for common people.
Sensing such predicament all airlines are also rather increasing the airfare outbound from Imphal, mentioned the letter.
The Union Minister has also been urged to review the fare policy for all airlines flying in Imphal sector so that the fare may be concessional and affordable particularly to students and patients and common man.
