Senapati, September 22 2021: A felicitation programme of Don Bosco College (Autonomous) Maram principal Rev Fr (Dr) Sebastian was organised at New Maram Village on Wednesday by Northern Maram People's Organization (NMPO).

NMPO information and publicity secretary Bosco informed that Don Bosco College Maram since its inception in 2001, has achieved numerous milestones with the latest one being on September 5 when the state's Directorate of University & Higher Education honoured Dr Sebastian in recognition of his outstanding performance and contribution to Higher Education.

During the function, event coordinator Pungdi P Celestine noted that under the able administration and zeal of the principal, the college has climbed ladder of success not only in the state but also in the country.

Scaling academic heights and excellence in all round development of the students, the college in 2015 under Dr Sebastian scored 3.35 NAAC CGPA points, which is the highest in the state and second highest in the North East India and received Autonomous status this year.

While noting that the college has produced highest number of toppers under Manipur University till date, Celestine said, the college and surrounding area has become a welcome home to all the students who desire to pursue quality education.

Celestine also added that the college has received national awards from the office of President and Prime Minister of India in various disciplines of best NSS unit, Swachh Bharat Summer Internship, best coordinator of Red Ribbon among others.

Former Assembly deputy speaker K Raina said Maram community is proud of the achievements of the college and its people shall continue to support the institution.

In his address, Dr Sebastian expressed gratefulness to the local populace for organising the event and stated that appreciation always encourages one to make more efforts.

He also opined that success of the college is more noteworthy given the fact that the institution is located in a village and life can be tough in a village level, more so in the hills.

Further, he said the college grew only with the support of the locaL people and henceforth has to go beyond the present rate of achievement.

Maram Students' Union president, Maram Women Union president Northern Maram Women president, Senapati District Women Association and public leaders of Northern Maram attended the event.
