PREPAK to observe 'Colonialism Resist Day'
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, April 25 2023: Remembering all the excesses and oppressive activities allegedly perpetrated by the Indian military forces behind several black laws including indiscriminate killings, torture, rapes, involuntary disappearances and the bestial incident of Patsoi-Langjing, the proscribed PREPAK would be observing the 10th "Indian Colonialism Resist Day" tomorrow at its central head- quarters, general headquarters, tactical headquarters, transit camps, training centres and other departments.

A statement issued by the outfit's charge-de-affairs, publicity and propaganda LeibaakNgaakpa Luwang informed that they have been observing the day since 2014 .

It appealed to all the people to oppose the Indian military forces and raise a united voice so as to deter the Indian military forces from repeating such oppressive activities.

Sharp polarisation seen today among the people, distrust, false pride are all results of Hinduism and the resultant inability to identify oneself, it alleged.

Today's local rulers who lack a sense of patriotism and ownership over their own actions are all creations of India's cultural and political dominance over India, the outfit said.

As long as Kangleipak remains under the Indian rule, it would be hard to groom youngsters who have a sense of ownership over their own actions and the land, it said.

Emergence of responsible and patriotic individuals who have a sense of ownership over their motherland would become impossible in Kangleipak after some years unless such individuals are groomed purposefully, the outfit said.

If Kangleipak must be saved, the cultural and political dominance of India should be eliminated and the strength of eliminating such dominance can be mustered when all the people are united, according to the statement.

The geographical location of Manipur is such that it generally receives plenty of rain and the State was quite rich in terms of forest resources.

But faulty policies of the Government which has no sense of ownership over the land led to massive destruction of the State's forest resources since the last couple of years, it said.

Although it is said that there are 54 reserved forests and 22 protected forests, there are no real forests in the State.

Forests exist in Kangleipak but only for name's sake, the outfit remarked.

No primary forest can be seen in Kangleipak today and it only indicates that "We are moving on a very disastrous path", it said.

It asked how one could call the bare and barren mountain ranges starting from Koubru to Senapati in the North, Thangjing to Tamenglong and Churachandpur in the West and Chandel as primary forest.

Misplaced policies of the alien rule have destroyed the tradition of protecting and preserving forests.

Kangleipak has now become no man's land, with no one to take care of it, the outfit lamented.

In the aftermath of the alleged annexation of Manipur by India, the tradition of protecting and preserving forests has disappeared.

As a result, Kangleipak has been losing 18 hectares of forest cover in a day and one square Kilometre in a week, it said.

Satellite images have shown that Manipur lost over 190 square Kms of forest covers during the last two/three years.

Consequent upon the fast disappearance of the State's forests, the ecological balance has been adversely affected and the average temperature has risen drastically, it said.

On the other hand, the Government of India which allegedly believes in sustaining their alien rule by taking recourse to military might has been unleashing all kinds of oppressive measures against the people after imposing AFSPA 1958 and many other draconian laws with a sinister objective to wipe out Kangleipak from the surface of Earth, it said.

Kangleipak can be saved from all such overt and covert strategies only after the alien rule is overthrown and the Indian military forces are driven away, it continued.

It then appealed to all the people to raise the slogan 'Go back, Indian military forces' on the "Colonialism Resist Day" and to take out torch rallies in the evening so that the oppressive activities allegedly perpetrated by the Indian military forces are not repeated.
