NE rebel outfits call total shutdown on R-Day

Imphal, January 23 2016 : Four major rebel groups namely; United National Liberation Front of WESEA (UNLFW), Co-ordination Committee (CorCom), Manipur, Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) and Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) have called for a total shutdown in the entire North East region with effect from midnight of January 25 till 6 pm of January 26 .

A joint statement issued the by four rebel groups asserted that there is no reason for WESEA to celebrate India's Republic Day.

The federation ideation was a deceitful tact which fooled Gopinath Bordoloi to take then Assam (a major slice of WESEA) into the Indian fold.

"It is the duty of all our citizens to introspect and analyse Indian policy in our region against the philosophy of our indigenous identities in WESEA and work towards the finality of dislodging Indian occupation from our region", reads the statement.

"In the struggle to achieve this, we call upon our citizens to make a strong, clear message and protest against the imposed celebration of the forthcoming Indian Republic day in our WESEA Region, by imposing sanctions to all official and non-official programmes for the same", it continued.

Emergency services, media and religious activities may continue unhindered during this period of shutdown.

Over the years India has been honest in suppressing WESEA militarily.

But lately, double-talk is creeping in.

These days to conform to the UN provisions of resolving issues with dialogue, peace talks have been oft repeated.

But, the unmistakable diplomatic sly is, "Peace within the framework of Indian Constitution" .

Indian strategists are finding and exploiting the fault lines amongst the people of WESEA and confidently pursuing a policy of divide and rule and the people are haplessly stepping onto well laid traps to facilitate the adversary in their schemes of things.

To defeat India's nefarious design, there is a need to nurture WESEA as a compact entity through a positive symbiosis with innovative and modern federated geo-political identity in contrast to Indian brand of sham federal set up with her own admission of being a truly unitary State in reality, it asserted.

In pushing for the totality of the Indian Dominion, the GoI is pursuing a hegemonic colonial policy in WESEA region to assimilate all the distinct culture, people and territories to India forever.

"Our land and territories are constantly ravaged, our indigenous people's very existence is being threatened with the ever increasing influx of Indian immigrants", it added.
