Senapati, December 11 2021: The Naga Students Union, Chandel organised a sit-in-protest at Japhou Bazar, Chandel against the cold blooded massacre of innocent Naga civilians by the Indian Para Special Com-mandos at Oting village, Mon district, Nagaland on December 4 .

AC Thotso, General Secretary, ANSAM addressed the gathering at Japhou Bazar and stated that Nagas living in Manipur organised sit-in protests in different hill districts of the State to condemn the infamous massacre of Naga civilians at Oting village.

With the promulgation of AFSPA and subsequent militarization in the entire region, bloodshed never ceases, he asserted.

While condemning in the strongest term, the student leader stated that killing innocent people on the pretext of mistaken identity is highly unacceptable.

He urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to retract the alleged false statement he gave in the parliament.

Indo-Naga political negotiation has been going on for more than two decades and people expect an honourable, acceptable and inclusive solution through the negotiation, he said.

Thotso then urged the Govt of India to end such terror upon the Naga people and bring about a solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political dialogue.

Placards with "We condemn the massacre of inno- cent civilians by the Indian Para Commandos at Oting, Nagaland", "AFSPA - Democracy's blight ", "AFSPA - Army's weapon, people's terror", "Oting and Konyak brethren, we are with you", among others, were held by the protesters.

Kho John, president, United Naga Council (UNC) in his statement at Chandel stated that the federal assembly session of the UNC prayed for the souls of 15 innocent civilians killed at Oting village, Nagaland while extending condolences to the bereaved families.

Strongly condemning the brutal killing and massacre by the para military forces, the UNC president demanded the Govt of India to repeal the AFSPA.

With more than 62 years, AFSPA has cost enough precious human lives, he added.

UNC appealed to the world, North Eastern States and Indian citizens to prevail with some human understanding specially with the North East and the Naga's movement as well.

The Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) together with its federating units namely; Maram Students Union (MKS), Mao Students Union (MSU), Poumai Naga Students Union (PNTM), Thangal Students Union (TAJ) and the Zeliangrong Students Union (ZSU), Senapati Zone also staged a sitin-protest at Senapati Bazar in protest against the Oting massacre of December 4 .

Slogans like, "We want Peace, We want Justice and Repeal AFSPA" were shouted by the protestors.

Addressing media persons, Pung Mark, president, Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) appealed to the Govt to deliver justice to the victims of the incident while strongly condemning such barbaric and cowardly acts of the security forces.

He also appealed for the repeal of AFSPA from the entire Northeast region.
