1096 samples tested for COVID-19 till date

Imphal, May 10 2020: Since coronavirus outbreak, the State has screened a total of 2,19,640 people and tested at least 1,096 samples.

As many as 2,05,151 have been screened at various entry points to the State till today, showed a Government report on status of COVID-19.1,281 including truckers and commuters were screened at the entry points today.

Mao witnessed the most traffic with 1,015 people screened by the medical team stationed there.

256 were screened at Jiribam while 10 were screened at Jessami.

While more than half of the people screened today were truckers, 604 were commuters.

There has been an increase in the traffic at the entry points since the launch of the evacuation mission to bring back stranded people from other States.

The Government report on the status of COVID-19 provided by State Surveillance Officer, IDSP, Dr L Tomcha Khuman showed all screened at the entry points were free of any COVID-19 symptoms.

In addition to the screening done at the entry points, Health Department has aslo been screening truckers and drivers of gas bullets/oil tankers at various destinations in Imphal.

600 truckers were screened at ISBTtoday increasing the number of total truckers screened to 14,489, the report showed.

COVID-19 test
With the imposition of the lockdown early, the State has seen no rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.

So far, the State has got results of 1,096 samples tested.

Today, a total of 231 samples were tested for COVID-19 at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), showed the COVID-19 status report.

The State has been COVID-19 free after two persons recovered.

The first confirmed case was a 23-year-old girl while the second case was a Tablighi Jamaat returnee.

Quarantine
A total of 1,134 people are currently under quarantine at Government quarantine centres with 525 new admissions today.

The total number of people who are/were under quarantine at Government quarantine centres is 2,018.884 people have completed quarantine.

However, there is no one under home quarantine at present.

486 people who were under home quarantine have completed their time, according to the report.

COVID-19 control room
The COVID-19 control room has attended to as many as 10,393 calls till today.

342 calls were attended today, the report said.
