Seized SUP sent for recycling

Single use plastic items seized in the course of the drive undertaken jointly by Manipur Pollution Control Board, IMC, Directorate of Environment and Climate Change and Police from April 15 have been sent to Meghalaya for recycling.
The first batch of around 400 Kgs of single use plastics (polythene bags) which were pierced with iron rods at IMC office over a period of three days was sent to Meghalaya through MS Asok Traders based at Tentha Morungband, Thoubal district.
Flagging off the vehicle carrying the single use plastics, MAHUD Director Ng Uttam said that more than 7000 Kgs of single use plastics were seized in the course of the drive jointly undertaken by Manipur Pollution Control Board, IMC, Directorate of Environment and Climate Change and Police from April 15 this year.
First consignment of around 4000 Kgs of seized polythene bags was sent to Kakarania Innovative System Private Limited which is based at Byrnihat, Meghalaya for recycling, Uttam said.
The remaining single use plastics seized from different places will also be sent to other companies for recycling, he said.
He also appealed to all the people to stop the sale and use of these banned plastic items and replace them with other alternatives.
