Imphal, August 03: Tension still prevails in the Naga inhabited areas and sentiments continue to run high in the wake of the government of India�s decision to withdraw the extension of ceasefire with the NSCN (IM) without territorial limits.

The extent of anger in Senapati district over the issue was clear during the course of the three day bandh called by the Senapati Youth Front which ended yesterday.

Though Senapati town had some life in it, with school children attending classes and shops selling essentials remaining open, further north, starting with Maram Centre, the bandh was total, with groups of volunteers armed with catapults enforcing the bandh.

A press team, including representatives of the local and national media touring the bandh affected areas were also stopped and detained for more than two hours for questioning at Maram centre.

The team was however allowed to proceed further with volunteers escorting them upto the Mao gate.

On the journey, the press team saw several vehicles, including oil tankers and trucks with their windshields completely destroyed.

The vehicles were supposedly provided security.

The drivers of the vehicles, many wearing hoods, apparently did not want to be photographed, or to answer questions.

Today again when the team was returning, a number of Manipur bound vehicles lined up near the Khuzuma police gate in Nagaland had their petrol tanks emptied by bandh supporters.
