Imphal, March 02 2022: AICC senior observer Jairam Ramesh has accused the BJP of giving its ticket to druglords and playing divisive politics.

Speaking to the media at Congress Bhavan today, Jairam Ramesh dubbed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the master of double engine 'haijinbi' (fabricator) Governments and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as its junior master.

The AICC leader also maintained that Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah have been defacing the beauty of democracy by employing different outfits under Suspension of Operation such as KNO for electoral fraud in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts.

On drug issues, Jairam Ramesh claimed that BJP is fielding drug kingpins as its candidates in the election instead of dealing with drug problems dedicatedly .

The BJP should understand that the people of Manipur vividly remember the release of a major drug smuggler about two years back, the Congress leader added.

Continuing that Congress had never done anything that will create animosity between the people of hills and valley unlike the BJP but strive to maintain the cordial relation, Jairam Ramesh asked on what rationale is the BJP withholding ADC election.

The Congress, on the other hand, is committed to protecting the territorial and emotional integrity of Manipur, he said and continued that the grand old party will win the second phase of election on March 5 in a large number.

He also maintained that the Congress will work to implement many welfare programmes for farmers to make Manipur self-reliant in rice production if elected to power, Jairam Ramesh.
