UCM reiterates stand on integrity of Manipur

The United Committee Manipur (UCM) president Joychandra Konthoujam has categorically stated that any attempt to disrupt the integrity of Manipur would not be accepted under any condition.
Speaking to media persons during a one day discourse on Manipur Integrity held at Palace Compound today, Joychandra also stressed on the need to trace the root of all the issues that besiege the State today.
Further urging all to work for the greater good of Manipur, he maintained that the UCM has reaffirmed to strengthen the principle of peaceful coexistence of all the communities residing in the State.
On the border issue, Joychandra contended that the Centre has failed to deliver its promises to verify all the controversial border pillars this month (October) .

He then urged Union Minister of State for External Affairs RK Ranjan to intervene and do the needful at the earliest.
The UCM president also asked the BRTF to shun all forms of fencing work at the disputed sites along the Indo-Myanmar border until the issue is resolved amicably.
Taking note of the impending State Assembly election, Joychandra appealed to the people of both hill and valley to elect the persons who can sincerely work for a united Manipur and the economic development of the State.
UCM general secretary Ng Deva, while delivering a keynote address, said that the discourse was held to commemorate the mass rally taken out to save the integrity of Manipur on October 31, 2018 .
Though the Inner Line Permit System has been implemented in the State, no absolute guideline has been formulated till date, he said and pointed out the need to analyse the different policies of the Centre that allegedly aim to eradicate the indigenous people of Manipur.
Saying that the people of Manipur have no knowledge on what condition the Framework Agreement was signed between the NSCN (IM) and the Centre, Deva expressed concern that certain activities might be carried out against the interest of the Manipuri under this agreement.
He also asserted that the Naga peace talks should not harm Manipur at all.
