Union minister of state for Food Processing Th Chaoba has hailed the decision of the Union Government to revoke the ceasefire extension from Manipur.
Quoting Chaoba, a statement issued by the spokesman of MSCP, Kh Devabrata said �the credit for withdrawal of ceasefire extension from Manipur goes to all section of the people and all organizations, irrespective of difference of caste, religion, creed and language, especially the minority community who participated in the protest against threats and criminal intimidations�.
The spectacular democratic and peaceful protest launched by all the people of Manipur grabbed the attention of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha and this in turn �generated a general consensus against the ceasefire extension in other States of the Northeast other than Nagaland,� said the statement.
Chaoba also assured the people that he would take up the issue of protecting the National Highways in Manipur in the next meeting of the NDA.
Meanwhile the State unit of the BJP said the Centre has taken the right decision to delete the phrase �ceasefire without territorial limits� and the revocation of the ceasefire extension from Manipur.
The party has also appealed to all to maintain communal harmony and to ensure peaceful co-existence amongst the various communities living in the state.
The party also demanded immediate and unconditional release of all student leaders who have been put behind bars in connection with the agitation against the ceasefire extension.
