New advisory for COVID testing issued

The Directorate of Health Services has directed all the hospitals in the State to designate a dedicated team for sample collection and COVID-19 testing and ensure that one such team is available 24X7 to cover all emergencies.
As per an updated advisory for COVID-19 testing in the State issued by the Directorate of Health Services, all patients attending healthcare facilities including emergency and elective surgical/non-surgical invasive procedures would be tested for COVID-19 .
Relatives/attendants accompanying patients requiring admission in healthcare facilities shall be tested by using any of the testing modalities as deemed required by the treating doctors/hospital authorities.
Testing of two accompanying attendants shall be done free of cost and the rest on payment basis.
Asymptomatic COVID-19 positive cases admitted to COVID care Centres will be discharged 10 days after testing positive and there will be no need for testing prior to discharge.
Severe COVID-19 cases with co-morbid conditions would be re-tested with RT-PCR after resolutions of the symptoms before discharge.
Patients under home isolation will stand discharged after 10 days of onset of symptoms and 10 days of testing positive for COVID-19 (asymptomatic cases), according to the updated advisory.
