New building of Babina Diagnostics inaugurated

Imphal, June 21 2012: A new diagnostic centre Babina Diagnostics which is claimed to be of world class standard and the biggest in eastern India was inaugurated today at Soibam Leikai, Imphal East by Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing.

Babina Diagnostics was set up by the Babina Health Care and Hospitality Industries.

At first, Dr Dhaballi, proprietor of the Babina Diagnostics, set up Babina Clinical Laboratory in a corner of Rupmahal Tank with only four staff about 29 years back.

Then Babina Diagnostic Centre was set up at RIMS Road.

From health care service, Dr Dhaballi diversified his business to hospitality industry by setting up Classic Hotel, the most luxurious hotel in Manipur a few years back.

The whole building inaugurated today is equipped with air conditioners.

Instead of manual transportation of samples to different laboratories as was done earlier, samples are now collected and delivered to laboratories by pneumatic system.

The building is also equipped with stream laboratory automation system which has not been installed in any medical laboratory of India.

Many ultra modern equipment like Polymer Chain Reaction for detection of HIV and Hepatitis, 1.5 Tesla MRI machine and 124-Slice CT Scanner have also been installed at the diagnostic centre.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Dr Dhaballi claimed that his diagnostic centre is now the biggest in eastern India.

The inaugural function was graced by Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing as chief guest, MLA Y Erabot as president and MLA Prof Ng Bijoy and Chief Secretary DS Poonia as guests of honour.

Almost all the speaker who addressed the gathering lauded the exemplary entrepreneurship of Dr Dhaballi.

Chief Secretary DS Poonia said that Dr Dhaballi's achievements have proved wrong detractors of Manipur who identified Manipur as a failed state traumatized by bandhs, blockades and violence.
