Urea seizure : Frantic moves to clear name

Giving a clean chit to the UKLF, four men, said to be the main persons behind the attempt to smuggle the 13 truckloads of Urea to Myanmar have today said that the outfit was not in any way involved in the racket.
Speaking to reporters at Pallel bazar today afternoon, the four persons said that while they were trying to smuggle the Urea to Myanmar, they were stopped by UKLF cadres near Molnom and checked.
While the UKLF cadres were checking the trucks, a team of Assam Rifles personnel led by Major Abhishek and Nitin Chule arrived at the scene.
The two AR officers then interacted with UKLF commander, George Zou in a very friendly manner and chatted in Hindi, the four persons recalled.
At the insistence of the two AR officers, the UKLF cadres went to the camp of the outfit to meet their CO, they said and expressed surprise over the news that the UKLF cadres were escorting the Urea loaded trucks.
The Urea was procured from Imphal in batches over a time in canters and they were loaded to the trucks at a spot in between Heikakpokpi and Kuraopokpi near Pallel.
Six of the trucks passed the 26 Sector Assam Rifles gate and after registering their entry at Pallel police station, they were taken to a road lying east to the police station and finally reached Molnom.
The other seven truckloads were taken through a lateral road connecting Tusom by passing the gate of 26 Sector Assam Rifles and reached Molnom, said the four persons.
From Molnom, the 13 trucks were taken Saivom, which is ear the Imphal-Moreh route and from there they made their way to Tengnoupal.
The plan was to sneak across Khudengthabi where there is a permanent check post of the Assam Rifles and then proceed to Moreh, disclosed the four persons.
To get through the Pallel police station, they paid Rs 1500 per truck load and another Rs 1000 to Customs and Rs 300 to Assam Rifles.
They also pay Rs 1000 each to UKLF and KNA.
Another Rs 300 per load was given to the IRB posted at Saivom, they disclosed.
To get through the 26 AR gate at Tengnoupal, they paid Rs 1000 per load to KNA commander of Wing V identified as Thangboi Haokip.
Another Rs 1000 was paid to the commander of Wing I of KNA per load to get through the Khudengthabi AR gate.
Spelling out their earlier plans, the four persons said that they were to take the newly cut road at Lelkai, near Moreh and then proceed to Moreh ward number 1 .
The consignments were to be handed to one A Ashong who would then take the same to Myanmar.
