On ECI directives, CEO furnishes information Focus on photo comparison

Imphal, February 06, 2012: As demanded, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has furnished detailed information of all polling stations about the proceedings of the election day to the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Moreover, the CEO would submit a report on the comparison between photographs of voters taken on polling day and their photographs affixed on Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs).

An official source informed that the CEO submitted poll day information of all polling stations about the polling on January 28 and the re-poll held on February 4. The information provided by the CEO included detailed reports of the total number of voters whose photographs were taken, the number of security personnel utilised in the election as well as the number of polling stations of which the voting process was webcasted.

Verification of the photographs taken on polling day in comparison to photographs affixed on EPICs is being done by Returning Officers/District Election Officers.

A full verification report would be sent to the ECI in the next couple of days, said the source.

The ECI would identify the polling stations where re-poll would be held and fix a date for re-poll after perusing the reports furnished by ROs/DEOs.

Taking into account the 34 polling stations where re-poll was held on February 4, the overall poll percentage recorded in the State is 79.96 per cent.

Hiyanglam AC and Lamlai AC recorded the highest poll percentage at 92 per cent while Thanlon AC recorded the lowest voter turn out at 47.14 per cent.

Counting of votes would be done on March 6 in all district headquarters, ADC Kangpokpi and ADC Jiribam.

For Thangmeiband, Uripok, Sagolband, Keishamthong, Singjamei, Sekmai, Lamsang, Konthoujam, Patsoi, Langthabal, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, Wangoi and Mayang Imphal, votes would be counted in four halls in the Imphal West DC office complex at Lamphelpat.

Votes would be counted simultaneously in two halls of Panchayat Bhavan, Porompat for Assembly segments of Wangkhei, Keirao and Andro.

Votes for Khundrakpam, Heingang, Khurai and Lamlai AC would be counted in the training hall of Industry Department.

At Bishnupur, votes would be counted in two halls of the mini-Secretariat building for Assembly segments of Nambol, Oinam, Bishnupur, Moirang, Thanga and Kumbi.

For Lilong, Thoubal, Wangkhem, Heirok, Wangjing-Tentha, Khangabok, Wabagai, Kakching, Hiyanglam and Sugnu, counting would be done in the counting hall of Thoubal DC office complex.

For Chandel and Tengnoupal ACs, votes would be counted at Chandel DC office complex, for Phungyar, Ukhrul and Chingai ACs at Ukhrul mini-Secretariat.

For Karong, Mao and Tadubi at Senapati Community Hall, for Saikul, Kangpokpi and Saitu ACs at security barrack of ADC Kangpokpi.

Votes for Tamei, Nungba and Tamenglong would be counted at Tamenglong Indoor Stadium and for Tipaimukh, Thanlon, Henglep, Churachandpur, Saikot and Singhat at Churachandpur district training centre.

Votes for Jiribam AC would be counted at Jiribam ADC office complex.
