A Class V student was hurt when he was caught in the middle of a police crackdown on people protesting the July 23 incident at Khurai area today.
The young child was on his way home from school, when the incident occurred.
Continuing the demand for the resignation of the Chief Minister, punishment of policemen and release of Apunba Lup members, following the July 23 incident, womenfolk of four localities, Khurai Sajor Leikai, Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, Khurai Ningthoubung Leikai and Khurai Laishram Leikai set ablaze the effigy of Chief Minister O Ibobi amidst slogans like, 'Resign! Chief Minister Ibobi' and 'Punish guilty commandos'.

The agitators then marched towards Khurai Lamlong Keithel.
However, police blocked them at Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, just a few metres away from Lamlong Keithel.
The agitators insisted the police to let them proceed further and but the police stood their ground and asked them to turn back.
In the meantime, the women vendors of Khurai Lamlong Keithel too gathered and asked the security personnel to allow the agitating women to proceed further.
Police then resorted to firing tear gas shells and mock bombs to disperse the women agitators.
A Class V student of Secred Heart School, Lairenlakpam Pari s/o Budha was injured on the shoulder, while he was returning home.
Even as the agitating women vendors of Lamlong Keithel were dispersed by the police, agitators including Sanjit's mother, Taratombi came from Khurai Sajor Leikai side.
As they were stopped by the police, the protesters blocked the traffic of Khurai Tinsid Road for some time.
Taratombi later fainted during the stand off and she was evacuated to JN Hospital by the agitators.
Sit-in-protests were also staged by the students of Sika Higher Secondary School, Canchipur, Temple of Learning, Pichu Lampak, Manipur Standard English School, Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, Eastern Jenitor English School, Thongju Boroi Makhong and Suraj English School, Lilong Chajing at their respective school premises in protest aganist the Khwairamband market incident.
School kids continue with human chain stir : Continuing the agitation against the July 23 BT Road incident, school children formed human chains today in different parts and demanded among other things, to make education a free zone, punishment of the police commandos responsible for the killings, to stop State terrorism, resignation of the Chief Minister.
At Imphal West district, students of Shantilata Memorial School, Public Girls' High School, Lamdeng Khunou, Praja High School, Lamshang and Remlen Christian English School, staged dharnas at their schools and formed human chains to denounce the July 23 incident and to demand justice.
Students of MEM Higher Secondary School staged a sit-in at their school campus to protest the twin killings at BT Road on July 23 as well as for inflicting injuries on five other civilians.
At Singjamei Kongba Road in Imphal East, students of Advanced Innovative Modern School and Eastern Ideal Girls' High School, Akampat staged dharnas at the gates of their schools against the July 23 BT Road incident.
