Dimapur, June 01 2011:
Noting the ongoing crisis situation in the Naga National Council (NNC), senior NNC leader TM Keyho (retired general) today appealed the present leadership of the organisation to adhere to an 'advisory note' issued earlier by senior members of the outfit or to pave the way for reorganisation of the NNC on a broad based basis covering the entire section of Naga people.
In a press communique issued today, the veteran NNC leader informed that in observing the crisis which has been prevailing within the NNC for the last one year, five senior members of NNC, namely MC Murry, Advisor NNC, I Teka Soya, President Ao Regional Council NNC, Zapuvisie Lhousa, Member CEC NNC, T Oren Lotha, Member CEC NNC and Chosel Angami, President Angami Regional Council NNC, had in the larger interest of the organisation issued an Advisory Note on 24th April, 2011 stating that the election of both Dr Senka Yaden as President NNC and Gen (Retd) I.Panger as Working President NNC was unconstitutional and manipulated by some vested interests.
Accordingly, the senior members, with a view to save the situation, had reportedly advised thus: "Dr.Senka Yaden may be requested to resign gracefully and let his Vice President Mr.Kiumukam Yimchungr carry on till his term expires or that the whole NNC is reorganized and reactivated on a broad base by the Naga people" .
Further, these senior leaders of NNC had also issued a caution that no one can dispute the fact that the NNC was created by the people and for the people.
Therefore, they said the office of the NNC cannot and should not be used by any individual or group of individuals to serve their own short-sighted tactics and schemes.
The press note also said it has been learnt that following the 'advisory note' issued by the senior leaders Dr Senka Yaden had already tendered his resignation as President of NNC in order to pave the way for smooth transition of the office of NNC.
The retired general questioned why Dr.Senka's resignation has not been disclosed to other members if it was true.
"Why is the fact being kept as a secret and keep on creating unnecessary acrimony among the people ? " he asked.
Also observing that various individuals have started to issue expulsion or suspension orders on their own without having any meeting or consultation with the central executive council of the NNC, he sought to make it known to all that no individual has any authority to expel or suspend any body on flimsy ground except for anti national activities.
Appealing to both the vice president NNC and the general gecretary NNC to adhere to the Advisory Note issued by the Senior Members or pave the way for reorganisation of the NNC on a broad based basis covering the entire section of Naga people, Keyho said 'any hasty and unilateral action by any individual or group of individuals is not welcomed by the Naga people' .
