Meet dissects grievances of Moreh IDPs, seven missing persons

A meeting was held on Sunday at the Alternate Housing Complex Relief Camp, National Game Village, Langol Zone III, to discuss the challenges faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Moreh, The meeting was held with Meetei Council Moreh president Thoiba Meitei, and Moreh SDO Ejaj Hassan and SDC Sukur All as presidium members.
Among other issues, those gathered shared their views on the seven individuals from Moreh who have been missing since the outbreak of the crisis on May 3, 2023, as well as inconveniences faced by the IDPs.
The participants assumed that the seven missing persons namely Chirom Itocha Meitei (38) S/o Chirom Pawajao Meitei of Moreh Turel Wangma Leikai, Nanao Leishangthem (30) S/o late L Amu Singh, also of Turel Wangma Leikai, Thokchom Ningthouremba Singh (30) S/o late Th Thoiba Singh of Heinou Makhong Leikai, Mayanglambam Tombi Devi (78) V.7 o late M Nobin Singh of Premnagar Leikai, Leishangthem Lanngamba alias Meitei (37) S/o late L Amu Singh of Heinou Makhong Leikai, Waikhom Nanao Singh (26) S/o W Inaocha Singh and Moirangthem Ingo Singh (24) both from Khunou Leikai, were no more alive.
The meeting also called on the SDO to issue their death certificates as soon as possible.
In addition, the meeting discussed issues confronting the IDPs, including the non-provision of bld-age pensions, widow cards, Aadhaar cards, and voter cards.
The need for blankets for those staying in the relief camp was also emphasized to bear the chilly winter months.
Moreh SDO Ejaj Hassan assured that the demands of the IDPs would be considered and acted upon after discussion with officials of relevant departments.
