Book on Maring Clan System, 'Namdev' released

Imphal, April 20 2025: The Maring Seven Class Genealogy and Cultural Ethos, a book on the clan system and customs and traditions of the Maring community was released at a function organised at the community hall of Laipharok Maring village on Saturday.

The book is penned by Dr M Dominic and published by Khaleya Clans.

Among others, the function was attended by Keirao MLA Lourembam Rameshwor.

It may be mentioned here that Maring Clans Forum (MCF) and Maring Uparap Assembly (MUA) had issued a ban on the release of the book.

Meanwhile, "Namdev", a book penned by Saikhom Chaoba Singh, was released at a function held at the DIPR auditorium, here, on Saturday with Sahitya Akademi Manipuri Advisory Board convenor Prof Rajen Toijamba as chief guest, former convenor Nongmai them Kirankumar Singh as president, and Manipur Sahitya Samiti, Thoubal president AK Deben as guest of honour.

DMU assistant professor Dr M Sadananda Singh shared his thoughts on the book.
