Noney, August 19 2024:
Normal life remains seriously affected in Noney district due to the indefinite bandh called by Rongmei Naga Council Manipur Intaiphai Luangrian (RNCM-NTL) along the NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam), Bishnupur-Khoupum-Rengpang (Tongjei Maril Road) and Leimatak Loktak Project roads.
Vehicles along these routes including loaded trucks coming from Jiribam side are stranded at different locations along the NH-37 .
The bandh supporters blocked the road using bamboo, tree trucks and boulders apart from burning used tyres and raising slogans demanding alternative administrative arrangement for minority Naga tribes living in the foot hills of Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts to ease their grievances and for better administrative convenience.
It may be mentioned that essential services like medical, water supply, electricity, telecom, media and education are being exempted from the purview of the bandh.
Moreover, due to incessant rains in the past few days in the region, landslides and mudslides occurred at different locations along the NH-37 .
