Licypriya plans 100 houses for conflict victims

Twelve years old climate and environmental activist, Licypriya Kangujam, is ready to inaugurate a new house, which she had promised to build for socio-political activist Totomshana Nongshaba of Heirok, on July 26 .
She also plans to build 100 houses for victims of the on-going Manipur violence and other underprivileged families in her birthplace Manipur.
Licypriya would be dedicating Totomsana's house to the people of Manipur in the presence of Hi-Tech Group chairman Dr Tirupati Panigrahi as chief guest, and various other foreign dignitaries & local eminent personalities.
Licypriya funded construction of the house 20 days after she made the promise.
The house has tile flooring, a modular kitchen, false ceilings, and a toilet.
Licypriya then appealed to the people of Manipur to attend the inauguration function which will begin at 9am on July 26 .
She told media that she is taking up the initiative in the aftermath of the May hailstorm in Manipur considered one of the major impacts of climate change.
"I am not just building homes, I am building the hope for the people of Manipur," she said.
"Not just for the climate change victims and the poor, I will build houses for those victims of the ongoing Manipur violence who are currently staying in various relief camps.
This will build hope and confidence to bring back peace in the state.
It is not the time just to wait for the action of the government.
Everyone has some responsibility," she further added.
The house was constructed with a budget of Rs 3 lakh in 20 days.
A sum of Rs 17,835 was donated online by her well-wishers.
