Power department conducts anti-theft drive

Officials of Manipur State Power Distribution Corporation Limited, Senapati on Thursday conducted inspection to deter unauthorised power connection in the district headquarters so as to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
Speaking during the inspection, MSPDCL, Senapati Subdivision manager Khuveio David, confided that the department carried out the drive to prevent power theft and unauthorised consumers with special emphasis on commercial outlets such as welding workshops, carpentry outlets and schools and colleges.
The team advised the unauthorised consumers to approach the department and register within 2-3 days, failing which electricity supply would be disconnected without further notice.
Further stating that domestic consumers in town or villages would also be covered, the manager urged consumers to ensure regular clearance of bills, not to bypass meter box and to be authorised consumers in order to get regular power supply in the region.
Meanwhile, many consumers urged the department to provide power supply at appropriate time, especially during exam season of the students While terming the department as the most important government undertaking, they called for power supply on all working days without which official works cannot be performed.
