Moirang Local Council Communist Party of India has urged authority concerned to release pending wages for the employees of Municipal Council and clear the garbage piling up at Moirang Keithel to maintain the market in a historically significant location like Moirang in a palatable manner.
In a release, the Moirang Council informed that casual staff, daily wagers and muster rolls employees of Moirang Municipal Council staged protest by closing the municipal office demanding release of their pending salary/wages.
With the stoppage of their work due to protest, garbage started piling up at Moirang Keithel.
The piling up garbage is causing inconveniences to pedestrians and people living in nearby areas apart from posing health threat to the citizens.
While ruing that the incumbent government had been downplaying demands of the workers responsible for sanitation works, the release urged authorities concerned to honour the said demands by releasing the pending wages.
