Imphal, June 08 2021: Mass COVID-19 testing for residents of Haobam Marak Irom Leikai under Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency in Imphal West district was conducted on Tuesday with strict adherence to SOP.

According to a statement issued by Naharol Yaipha Lamjingkol (NYL) president H Ibotombi, the mass COVID-19 testing started from 11 am at the club under the supervision of CMO Imphal West through DC Imphal West and SDO concerned.

The mass testing was conducted after informing CMO in the wake of demise of three locals due to COVID-19 recently.

During the mass testing conducted by staff of medical department, five locals were found positive and four of them have been sent to Community Home Isolation Centre opened at Pitambara School and one to Lamboi Khongnagkhong quarantine centre.

The president, however, expressed strong resentment that some people fed wrong information to the CMO office that the club charged Rs 100 each from each family for conducting the COVID-19 testing.

He clarified that no money was collected from any family and sincerity of the volunteers of the club led to successful conduct of the mass testing programme.
