Imphal, February 08 2025: Under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY), WDC Kangpokpi organised an outreach campaign on 'Watershed and Spring-bed Management' at Laikot Kom village under Lunghatin block, in Kangpokpi district on Saturday.

The outreach programme was attended by Watershed Management Programme Manipur's state level nodal agency chief executive officer (CEO) and planning director N Kulkani, state level nodal agency additional CEO Dr Rk Sunita, Kangpokpi district RDNPR project officer Th Homendro and RDNPR Kangpokpi executive engineer Th Hemchand as dais members.

Speaking at the event, Dr Rk Sunita pointed out that the campaign is conducted across the nation.

With the launching of the campaign by union minister of rural development on February 5, campaigns are being held in different states and union territories to spread awareness among the public.

The main objectives of the campaign are to promote tree plantation, initiate water conservation efforts, and preserve forests.

In Manipur, the campaign is being implemented in eight villages in eight districts.

A pledging ceremony was also conducted as part of the campaign wherein Laikot Kom villagers attending the campaign took pledge to preserve spring-bed, keep the area clean and preserve water.

Campaign T-shirt was also launched at the event.

The programme was attended by members of Laikot Kom village watershed committee, self-help groups, and user groups among other.
