Arms, explosives recovered in CCpur

Imphal, October 07 2024:
Joint teams of 2nd Mahar Regiment, Bishnupur district police, Churachandpur district police, and CRPF recovered arms, ammunition, and explosives from Gelbung and Kangvai villages in Churachandpur district during search operations on Monday.
In the first operation conducted from 5:45 am at Gel bung village under Kumbi police station, a combined team of 2nd Mahar Regiment, Kumbi police station, and Bishnupur district police commandos recovered one each 9mm Carbine Machine Gun (CMG) (number 18266285), AK-47 rifle (AF01053), 12-bore single barrel rifle (54396), 12-bore pistol, 9mm CMG with magazine, and 5.56mm INSAS LMG magazine.
The team also recovered an M20 pistol magazine, four rounds of 9mm CMG, a 12-bore cartridge, five 36 HE hand grenades, a tear smoke grenade, five detonators, four tube launchers with arming rings, an IED weighing 2.5 kg, two bulletproof jackets, three bulletproof plates, two pairs of jungle boots, and a tactical helmet.
The recoveries have been handed over to Kumbi police station.
In a second operation from 9 am to 12 noon, a combined team of Churachandpur district police and 58th battalion CRPF cordoned and searched Kangvai area.
Though no arrest was made, the team recovered two 'Pompi' launchers, two analogue handsets, a smoke bomb, and two each country-made hand grenades and pistols, with all the recovered items subsequently handed over to Churachandpur PS for further investigation.
