Imphal, July 07 2021:
It is regrettable of the authorities concerned to continue ignoring Ema hospital's act of raising the PPE charge from Rs 2450 to Rs 8400, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has stated.
In a statement released by DESAM Kakching District Council general secretary, the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has been difficult for all.
Amid this, private hospitals are charging exorbitant fees from patients, who are already suffering immensely due to the pandemic, even after rules had been put in place against charging huge medical fees from the people.
In this regard, DESAM Kakching District Council had raised issues of private hospitals in the district to the District Administration, CMO Kakching and Health Administration but no action has been taken up till date.
Although the state government had ordered for sub-allocation of PPE charge to patients, EMA hospital has been charging Rs 2450 to 8400, which is highly unreasonable.
Further denouncing inaction on part of the District Administration, CMO Kakching and Health Administration on the matter, the students' body urged for strict action against the hospital and reimbursement of the money to the patients.
It then said that it will continue looking into other hospitals of the district.
