Imphal, August 03 2025:
Urging the voters to stand firmly for truth instead of weeping for democracy, Manipur People's Democratic Front (MPDF) secretary Sapam Samungou appealed to all to elect only those potential leaders who can uphold and protect the constitutional rights of the people.
He stressed-that voters play a key role in ensuring a true and fair election to maintain human civilisation.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club, here, Sunday, Samungou said that the voters need to question whether voting for their preferred candidates would lead to state to be part of Ram Rajya in this 21st century.
He maintained that the future of the country and state lies in the hands of the people, while reminding people to ponder if the candidates they had elected out of love or for financial benefits are able to uphold their fundamental rights and ensure free movement along the national highways.
He then said that time has come for the voters to understand that until and unless their elected leaders are competent, a small state like Manipur would not be able to become a Ram Rajya.
If the electors do not understand the meaning and value of their votes, the elected candidates would never be able to govern properly and usher in development and peace.
"Until we learn how to properly exercise our rights, we cannot get the rights that we deserve," he remarked.
Urging the people to elect candidates who can ensure equal rights to all, Samungou said "we need to question ourselves in case of failing to do so" .
