MSU clears air on sand transportation

Imphal, May 27 2024: Clarifying that the union does not restrict transportation of sand originating from Dimapur and Assam in the state, Manipur Sand Union stated that restriction is imposed on some people who are not members of the union and transporting sand in surreptitious manner.

However, there is no restriction on sand transportation for personal use such as construction of house of individuals, MSU media coordinator Ak Mangang said in a statement.

The coordinator pointed out that the union which is formed at the national level under a Trust it should not be disregarded without knowing the history and reason for formation.

The Union does not restrict sale of sand by any community.

However, those interested in selling sand should do so by following the rules of the union, he added.

Ak Mangang further said that the union has been making available Assam and Dimapur-origin sand to the people at cheaper rates.
