National Lok Adalat across state settles 461 cases

Imphal, May 14 2022: As per the calendar of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), Manipur State Legal Services Authority in association with High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authorities organised the second National Lok Adalat for the year 2022 on Saturday at different places across the state.

Of the total of 573 cases taken up during the National Lok Adalat on Saturday, 461 cases including 25 pending in the courts like Motor Accident Claims amounting Rs 4,18,90,028 were settled.

The National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and West districts was jointly organised by Manipur State Legal Services Authority in association with Imphal East & Imphal West District Legal Services Authorities at Lamphel Court Complex.

National Lok Adalat was also, held in Bishnupur, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal and Jiribam districts apart from the High Court of Manipur.

In the National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and Imphal West districts, five benches which comprised judicial officers and advocates were constituted.

The Lok Adalat was conducted in physical/ offline mode for all pending court cases as well as pre-litigation cases.

Cases relating to bank recovery, civil disputes, family matters (except divorce), insurance matters, domestic violence cases, BSNL bill cases, NI Act (cheque bounce) were put up for discussion.

The High Court Legal Services Committee also organised National Lok Adalat at the complex of High Court of Manipur with a bench comprising registrar general, High Court of Manipur G Gai-phulshillu, chairperson and registrar (Judl) Yumkham Rother and Manipur Judicial Academy joint director K Brajakumar Sharma as members.

For the National Lok Adalat held at High Court of Manipur, six civil cases were put up, out of which one civil revision petition case was settled with a total settlement amount of Rs 22 lakh.

Justice Lanusungkum Jamir of the High Court and executive chairman of Manipur State Legal Services Authority visited the National Lok Adalat held at Thoubal court complex for the districts of Thoubal & Kakching and later at Lamphel Court, complex and interacted with the members of the Lok Adalat Benches as well as the parties.

It was the second National Lok Adalat for the year 2022 as per the calendar prescribed by National Legal Services Authority and the next National Lok Adalat will be held on August 13, 2022.Our Bishnupur correspondent informed that National Lok Adalat for Bishnupur district was held on Saturday at Bishnupur court complex.

It was jointly organised by Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) and District Legal Service Authority Bishnupur under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority.

Two benches of the National Lok Adalat in the district took up a total of 93 cases and 87 cases involving an amount Rs 43,61,731 were disposed.

Bench number 1 comprised of District and Sessions judge W Tonen Meitei as chairman and.

advocates Y Ramananda Singh and L Jayela Devi as members while bench number 2 had Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bishnupur Monalisa Maibam as chairpersons and advocates Th Hemchandra Meitei and W Mandakini Devi as members.
