CHIC for Langthabal opens at Standard Robarth school

Imphal, May 08 2021: A Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC) for COVID-19 positive people of Langthabal assembly constituency has been opened at Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur on Saturday.

Langthabal MLA K Shyam, who formally opened the CHIC, told media persons that the CHIC will happily accept help and donations from people of the constituency, including from those preparing to contest the next assembly election or those unsuccessful in the past elections.

The MLA informed that Langthabal AC recorded a total of 60 people contracting Covid-19 as per a survey conducted till Saturday.

Among them two have succumbed and 11 are currently undergoing treatment at hospitals, he said, adding that patients are facing difficulty in getting beds at hospitals at present and this is one main reason for opening the CHIC at Standard Robarth School.

He also appealed to people of the constituency not to be disheartened by the present situation but remain resilient and join hands in tackling the pandemic.

Stating that around Rs 1.30 crore was incurred while tackling the first wave of COVID-19 in Langthabal AC, he also informed that Rs 70 lakh of the total amount was utilised from Local Area Development fund and Rs 60 lakh from public contribution and his side.

K Shyam further mentioned that edible items were distributed to families falling under containment zones from his own pocket.

He further said that preparations are being made to provide the same facility during the second wave and inmates at CHIC will be provided best food from his side as done during the first wave.
