Bust of CI College founder unveiled

Education minister Thounaojam Basantakumar unveiled a bust of Tourangbam Chaoba, the founder vice-chairman of CI College, Bishnupur, at the college complex during the observance of 125th birth anniversary of the late founding member of the college organised by Tourangbam Chaoba Birth Centenary Celebration Committee, Bishnupur on Monday.
The observance began with guard of honour by volunteers of the college's NSS Unit 1 and 2.Minister Basantakumar and Committee president Th Ibopishak attended the event as chief guest and president respectively while former minister Th Pulunkanta, College principal Dr Mutum Mangi, former principal and chairman of Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur Dr L Mahendra were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Basantakumar recalled the contribution of Tourangbam Chaoba in the field of education and social service.
He stressed on the importance of education in shaping a society and bringing development.
The minister informed the gathering about the government's latest initiative of organising training programme on ethnic languages of the state while expressing hope that the initiative will help in bringing emotional integration among the people of different indigenous communities of the state.
He also said that the government is planning to provide different benefits to those who have completed this language training.
Basantakumar also assured of filling up the vacant posts of faculty members in the college.
There will also be an influence-free rationalisation process of teachers in the state soon, he further assured.
