Imphal, March 03 2025:
Maintaining that the central government's effort to restore peace and resolve the nearly two year-long conflict in the state is merely theatrical, Thawai Mirel Women Wing convenor Paonam Sanahanbi has asserted that imposition of the President's Rule (PR) in the state will not resolve the crisis.
Sanahanbi shared her observations during a distribution event on Monday, where vegetables, rice, and mattresses were handed over to volunteers of Arambai Tenggol Unit 20 at Lilong Chajing by Thawaigi Mirel and meira paibi activists of Langthabal Kunja area.
"It is highly unfortunate that the long-standing crisis in the state, which had been ignored by the central government, led to the sudden dismissal of the government and imposition of President's Rule," she rued, calling the central government's decision to impose PR in the state as part of the covert policy to suppress the people.
Sanahanbi also contended that while the youths of the state have set aside their personal lives to defend their motherland serving as village volunteers and working to protect the state from external threats, the government has taken control of the arms meant for these village volunteers, leaving them in a state of despair.
Despite this, Thawaigi Mirel and the meira paibis of Langthabal Kunja have provided aid and gifts to the village volunteers as a gesture of encouragement for their dedication and service, she added.
