No survey till land compensation paid: Association

Imphal, September 04 2022: Land owners affected by expansion of NH 37 under the aegis of NH 37 Affected Land Owners' Association organised sit-in protests at different localities on Sunday demanding payment of compensation for the land and standing properties affected by the project.

Protests were staged at Khamnam Keithel, Patsoi Part 3 and Khumbong Keithel on Sunday.

Interacting with media, association's joint secretary Thoudam Nandakishore said that the government acquired land for expansion of NH 37 in November 2021 .

However, the affected land owners are not given compensation till date, due to which they are facing various hardships in relocating their houses or in arranging a place for settlement.

Amid such a distressful situation, Imphal West district administration conducted another survey on August 29 and the affected land owners raised objection to the survey, he said and asserted that they will not allow any survey until the government release their compensation.
