Imphal, May 21 2024:
Shiv Sena Manipur president M Tombi Singh has said that security advisor Kuldiep Singh must respond within 48 hours to NSCN-IM's allegation that Indian security forces are providing weapons and logistic support to Kuki militants.
Addressing media persons at the Babupara office of Shiv Sena Manipur, here, on Tuesday, M Tombi said the nearly 13-month old conflict between the Meeteis and Kukis would have ended in the initial phase of the conflict if the war had been only, between the two communities.
However, it is well known among the public that the Kukis started attacking the Meeteis with the assistance of Kuki mercenaries from Myanmar.
Accordingly, security advisor Kuldiep Singh is answerable to the NSCN-IM's charges that Indian forces are providing military support and logistics to Kuki militants ahd also to the claim he made earlier that militants are not involved in the ongoing conflict.
Or else, people will consider the NSCN-IM's allegation as true and the security advisor should not consider people's acceptance as false, M Tombi said.
According to M Tombi, the ongoing conflict in Manipur is a proxy war to supress and wipe out the entire indigenous population of the land.
The party does not want to interfere in playing geo-pol itics but the ploy to eliminate the indigenous people in line with British's divide and rule policy is not unacceptable, he said and urged the state government to make serious efforts to end the conflict at the earliest.
He also said that security advisor Kuldiep Singh must verify if the NSCN-IM's allegations were true or false.
Expressing regret that vast paddy fields in fringe villages belonging to the Meeteis have been grabbed by the Kukis, N Tombi cautioned that a civil war is very much imminent if the public could not control their anger as 1kg rice is being old at Rs 50 in the market and large number of people particularly youth are jobless at present.
He then urged the state government to convene an all-political parties' meeting to discuss about bringing resolution to the present crisis.
