DMU stir suspected, prompt appointment of VC stressed

The relay hunger strike launched by DM University Students' Union from July 9 in pursuance of their demand for appointment of regular VC, registrar, controller of examinations, finance officer and other teaching and non-teaching staff has been suspended after fulfilment of some of their demands.
Talking to media persons at Union's office, here, on Friday, president Irom Dimochandra announced suspension of their protest stating that some of their demands have been honoured.
He pointed out that advertisement for appointment of VC was issued on July 10 and regular registrar, controller of examinations, teaching and non-teaching staff appointed by convening the syndicate meeting.
As, the protest will be suspended for the time being, he said, while urging for swift process to appoint the VC to avert re-launch of more intense protest.
He acknowledged support of DMU under-graduate, post-graduate and PHD students, Alumni Association, meira paibi and members of Thangmeiband United Club during their protest and also lauded authorities concerned for fulfilling some of their demands.
He also lauded DMU chancellor and Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey for looking into the matter and fulfilling the demands of the students.
Irom Dimochandra further exhorted the newly recruited teaching and non-teaching staff of the university to shoulder responsibilityin the development of the university.
