NAAC team begins assessment of Manipur College

A peer team of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has begun inspection of Manipur College from Tuesday for assigning grade to the government run college.
The peer team of NAAC was accorded a warm welcome by the principal, teachers and students of Manipur College late Tuesday afternoon and a cultural programme was also presented by the students later in the evening.
The peer team of NAAC is being led by Dr Abdul Haq Urdu University, Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh) vice chancellor Dr P Fazul Rahman as chairperson, professor Dr Sabjit Sengupta of Vishwa Bharati University, Shantineketan (West Bengal) as member co-ordinator and former principal of Sualkuchi Budram Madhab Satradhikar College, Guwahati (Assam) Dr Deepesh Chandra Bhagabati as member.
Regarding the third cycle assessment being done by NAAC, Manipur College principal Dr W Sambhunath said that the Bengaluru-based NAAC conducts assessment of higher education institutions of the country and assign grade.
Accordingly, the peer team of NAAC will examine the college for two days and assign grade for the college based on the assessment.
The peer team will conduct the assessment based on seven criteria and provide suggestions for improvement in weak area, if any, he said, adding that the college received B grade in the earlier assessment conducted by NAAC.
