JAC formed; sit-in protests murder, torture

Imphal, October 15 2024: Along with holding a public meeting and forming "JAC against the Brutal Killing of Laishram Johnson & Torture of Elam Roshan of Laipham Khunou, Imphal East," a sit in protest agitation was staged at Sangakpham Bazar on Tuesday.

Those present at the public meeting held at Soibam Leikai community hall denounced murder of Laishram Johnson s/o L Dhananjoy, and torture of Elam Roshan Singh s/o E Mangi.

The duo along with Naoroibam Barun s/o N Ibohal, all residents of Laipham Khunou Maning Leikai, were abducted by unknown persons on Monday.

While Barun was released unharmed, Roshan was subjected to severe torture, and Johnson slain by the captors.

Resolutions adopted at the meeting adopted were subsequently presented in a memorandum addressed to the chief minister, urging authorities concerned to arrest and punish the culprits involved, and not to claim Johnson's body till arrest and punishment of the culprits.

It also demanded that the government bear all expenses for the treatment of the injured.

During the sit-in, the participants held placards inscribed "Government should bear all expenses incurred in the treatment of the injured", "Provide Justice to the Victim", and "The Government Should Be Held Responsible for the Incident" .
