Imphal, July 08 2024:
Raising concerns over administrative inconvenience faced by people settling along the Old Cachar/Tongjei Maril Road and NH-37, Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (Ntayphay Luangrian/RNCM-NTL), Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation, Manipur (RNSOM) and Rongmei Village Chief/Chair-man Associations from Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts of Ntayphay Luangrian (Foothills) submitted a memorandum to the chief minister proposing relocation of district and police administration to Noney district.
In a statement, RNCM-NTL highlighted prolonged deprivation of political and economic privileges for these minority groups and stressed the need for the state government to address their grievances promptly.
It also expressed gratitude for the positive response received during recent meetings with the chief minister and said that the aspirations of their people must be respected and implemented without delay.
RNCM-NTL also set a deadline for the government to act, warning of democratic agitations if their demands are not honoured within this month.
