Arts topper wants to become teacher

Imphal, June 06 2022: HSE 2022 Arts topper Golmei Gaihemmei of Enlighten Knowledge (EK) Higher Secondary School is fascinated by Manipuri (Meetei Mayek) subject and she wants to become a teacher in the subject.

Second daughter of G Katazinpou and Gangmei Akashinj Kabuini of Langthabal Khoupum, Gaihemmei told The People's Chronicle that apart from securing letter marks in all subjects, getting 90 out of 100 marks in her favourite subject Manipuri is the best experience for her.

She also confided that she is fascinated by Manipuri literature, which is why she wants to become a teacher in the subject.

She recalled that the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced transformation from conventional classroom education to online class, had given severe impact on her life as she faced difficulties in taking notes in time when normal physical class resumed after the pandemic situation improved.

As the syllabus could not be covered fully in school and she did not take any private tuition, she had to consult with her class teachers frequently.

Gaihemmei said she is now happy that those efforts brought good results and has also motivated her to put more efforts to achieve her goal.

Her father stressed that parents need to encourage their children in every aspect of their life so that they could excel in whatever held they choose.

He also said that he will give full support to her daughter in achieving her goal of becoming a teacher.
