Dr Ranjan launches Anaemia Free Manipur campaign

With an aim to raise awareness about deficiency of iron (anaemia) among the local populace, health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh on Monday launched "Anaemia Free Manipur" campaign and released the relevant Poster Campaign 2023 under Bharat Vikas Parishad, Manipur at the hall of College of Nursing, Medical Directorate, Lamphelpat.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Dr Ranjan referred to the National Health Survey that the rate of anaemia patients is increasing at an alarming rate in the state and needs to be dealt with properly by chalking out the focus area.
He also stressed on the importance of spreading awareness amongst beneficiaries, institutions, village health sanitation, etc., in connection with the current issue.
"Let's tie up with Social Welfare and Education departments to cope with the alarming situation of iron deficiency," he said, adding that these two departments should collaborate with the Health Department to check nutritional deficiencies.
"Our fight against anaemia or any illness should not be within the confine of a room.
Everyone needs to be involved right from the people who are procuring the medicine to medicine stores and logistics, to reach the targeted beneficiaries," the minister said.
The launch programme was also attended by additional chief secretary (Health & FW) Vumlunmang Vualnam, Social Welfare director Ngangom Uttam, Health Services Manipur director Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang and State Health Mission director Dr Somorjit Ningombam as president and guests of honour respectively and also spoke on the function.
Posters were also released by the chief guest as a part of the Anaemia Free Manipur 2023 Campaign during the programme.
The launch programme was also attended by staff and students of College of Nursing.
